"Oyster Bay Marlborough Vineyards Limited was launched in
May 1999, to produce premium grapes for the manufacture of Oyster Bay
wines by winemaker and cornerstone shareholder Delegat's Wine Estate
Limited. It owns and leases 610 hectares of land in the Wairau Valley, of
which 535 hectares are planted and 409 hectares will be harvested in 2004.
Management of the company and its vineyards is contracted to Delegat's,
which is also contracted to purchase the annual grape harvest. Strategic
direction of the company is overseen by a board comprising two
representatives from Delegat's and three independent directors, the latter
being responsible for annual grape price negotiations."
